Before opening his own private practice specializing in the defense of people charged with crimes ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies, Boston based Massachusetts Attorney Gary Zerola was a prosecutor having worked as an Assistant District Attorney in both Suffolk County and Essex County.

Attorney Gary Zerola began his career an Assistant District Attorney in Essex County having been appointed to that prestigious position immediately after his graduation from Suffolk University Law School by former long-time Essex County District Attorney and current Secretary of Public Safety Kevin M. Burke. Starting out as a prosecutor in the North Shore's Essex County.  Attorney Gary Zerola began his legal career in the busiest district court in that county, Lynn District Court, located in Southern Essex County. Attorney Gary Zerola handled literally thousands of criminal cases from the a case's inception, at arraignment and also, during pre-trial hearings, detention hearings, motion hearings, and trials. During Attorney Zerola's career as an Assistant District Attorney in Essex County, because his outstanding case management abilities, the District Attorney assigned Attorney Gary Zerola to work in every District Court in Essex County including Salem, Peabody, Gloucester, Ipswich, Newburyport, Haverhill, and Lawrence.  Attorney Gary Zerola resigned his appointment as an Assistant District Attorney in Essex County upon the invitation of Suffolk County Ralph Martin to accept an appointment as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County's Nationnally Recognized Child Abuse and Prosecution Unit.

As a prosecutor under the tultelage of former District Attorny Ralph Martin in Boston's Suffolk County, Attorney Zerola was a member of the Suffolk District Attorney's Child Abuse and Neglect Team prosecuting cases of child abuse, neglect, rape and other child endangerment crime. While Attorney Zerola was a member of that prosecution team, the Child Abuse and Neglect Unit of the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office had gained national acclaim for developing today's standard of the interview of child vicitms and for the handling of these sensitive cases. Boston's Suffolk County Child Abuse Prosecution Unit was considered a model for other such District Attorneys nationally, a repuation of excellence in child abuse prosecution and child vicitm interview techniques the office still enjoys today. Attorney Gary Zerola resigned his appointment as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County in Agust 2000 to open his own private practice, spcializing in criminal defense.

Attorney Gary Zerola has maintained his private criminal defense practice since that time and had handled hundreds of criminal cases in almost every court in Massachusetts. Attorney Gary Zerola has represented persons charged with almost every crime on the books including First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Rape, Rape, Kidnapping, Indecent Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery, Felony Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Domestic Abuse cases representing both Defendants and Victims, Intimidation of a Witness, Cocaine and Marijuana Trafficking, Possesion of Narcotics with Intent to Distribute, School Zone Violations, Simple Poessession of Drugs, Motor Vehicle Homocide, Drunk Driving or Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs, Negligent Operating of a Motor Vehicle, and every kind minor traffic violation.

Educated

Attorney Gary Zerola was educated at the Suffolk University Law School -- receiving a Doctorate in Law from Suffolk Law, considered by legal scholars to be the nations's premier law school for trial attorneys. Attorney Zerola served as the Teaching and Research Assistant to then Dean John E. Fenton, Jr., former Chief Justice to the Massachusetts Trial Courts. Attorney Zerola also hold's a Masters Degree in Management from the Sawyer School at Suffolk University Graduate School of Managementand also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Suffolk University College of Arts and Sciences. Upon his graduation from Suffolk Law, Gary Zerola was selected to give the Law School's Commencement Address.  Four years earlier, upon his graduation from Suffok University, Gary Zerola was selected to give the University's Commencement Address. No student in the  University's more than 100 year history has been bestowed such honors - to give the commenecement address upon his graduation from both the Law School and the Universty.
